Hello everybody, I feel like it’s been a while since I’ve done a post like this as I’ve been so busy with uni! I’m excited to finally get back into the swing of things after a hectic month, and finally have time for myself! I also have time to try out more products which is exciting, and I hope to work a lot harder on my blog. But, that’s another conversation for another post! For now, I’m going to talk to you about what I’ve been loving, and what I’ve not been loving in the month of May!
I have been wanting to buy this palette for so long but Debenhams said it was to be released May 17th, then the day came and I found of they released it May 1st instead so it was out of stock. Then they recently opened up a Kat Von D counter at the Birmingham Bull Ring so I went the day it opened, and there it was! I absolutely love this for adding a pop of colour on my inner corner, and also love them mixed together to create a unique highlight on my cheekbones. I’ll have a full post coming soon on it!
The Sweet Peach palette is another palette I’ve wanted for a while, but it has also been out of stock when I’ve had the money for it. It was my birthday last month and my boyfriend surprised me by giving me it as a gift and I was over the moon! This is perfect for more neutral looks, whilst not being as neutral and nude as my chocolate bar palette. It still features subtle hints of colour which I love, plus it smells absolutely delightful! Again, a post or two will be coming soon so keep an eye out! Now all I need is the rest of the peach collection 😂
I received the shimmer waves blush as part of a gift from The Body Shop, and was mentioned in my first impressions haul over here. I’ve been loving this blush as it of course, has shimmer in it. This is perfect for the warmer months as it adds more of a dewy and radiant look to my makeup, compared to my usual matte blush from Too Faced. It also has bronzey tones within it, which again help to make me look more radiant and summer ready!
After getting my tattoo early last month, this was my saviour. I experience very mild peeling and it has kept it looking fresh and as good as new so far! It contains three ingredients so it doesn’t add any nasties to the tattoo and does nothing but keep it hydrated and healthy! I also have a post coming soon on my vegan aftercare routine!
May was a very stressful month as I prepared for deadlines and my final degree show. It was a tough month, but when I finally got to my degree show and had my work all set up, it was so worth it and I’m so happy I made it through. There were so many times I wanted to drop out this year due to my mental health, and I didn’t think I’d make it, so I’m really proud of the outcome.
On the topic of finishing university, it has meant that I finally have time to binge watch TV shows again. This month/one weekend of this month, consisted of binge watching Dear White People in four days. Go hard or go home. Anyway, this series was amazing and I recommend everyone watch it. It’s so though provoking and really powerful in showing just some of the challenges people of colour face, and how ignorant and naive white people are to these challenges. It presents these challenges in a way which really encapsulates the audience, using humour whilst also making me feel deep anger towards my own race, as well as utter sadness black people who in 2017, still face so much prejudice.
Dear White People is available on Netflix now, so go watch it!!
This month, I don’t really think I have any nays as I haven’t really switched anything up too much as I just haven’t had the money or time. My skincare routine has changed slightly, but I’ve been loving everything in it and will be posting an updated skincare routine soon. You can see my last skincare routine here! This month I hope to try out some new products though, so maybe next month I’ll have more disappointments! Until next time, keep updated with what I’m doing on my twitter below and socials in the side bar!
