Pendique Lockets are a relatively new company, starting up in the past few years and are based in Wigan, England. They were recently kind enough to let me choose a design from their website to create a personalised locket. When I first went to the website, I was slightly confused. I was expecting to just go through a list of ready-made lockets, but what’s great and also unique about this company, is that you get to choose every element of your necklace to suit you, from the metal used to what will be displayed inside the actual locket. Keep reading to learn more on the process and the final locket I received!
Choosing your locket will be the base of the necklace and will determine some other factors later on. It’s also where the bulk of your money will probably be spent as almost everything else is below £10. Here, you can choose whether you want silver, rose gold or a regular gold locket, and they come in different shapes and sizes to choose from. You can even get sparkly crystal encrusted lockets! I went with the rose gold plain locket (£13.00), to keep it simple but a colour I absolutely adore.
Now, of course you need something to hang your locket from, so next you need to choose a chain. I decided to again, keep it simple, by choosing the 20″ rose gold plated steel oval chain (£6.00), as this matches the locket and is a good length to go with loads of outfits.
This part is optional, and one I chose to skip as I wanted to keep mine pretty simple but there are plenty of lovely backplates to choose from. These fix into the back of the necklace and provide a background to the locket rather than it being see through with just the glass at the back. Some have text on, some are plain, and some are able to act as dividers to split up the charms you’ll choose in the next step.
Now for the most exciting part, choosing your charms! There’s a huge selection of charms to choose from, ranging from birth stones and ages, to roses and even ice creams! Here I chose my birth stone as this will match the earrings and pandora ring that both include my birth stone too. I paired that with this adorable little turtle as I love the colour green and again, it matches my birthstone. Then finally, I picked a daisy as I absolutely adore nature and had to include it somewhere. I also feel the yellow stone in the middle compliments the greens and the rose gold really well! What I love about the charms is the price, they’re really affordable meaning you don’t feel you can only buy one or two like you would when buying a pandora charm for example.
The amount you choose depends on the size of the locket, as mine was medium it fit a fair few in but if you want less you can choose the smaller pendant or if you want more, you can choose the large pendant. You are also able to get in touch with the lady who makes them and she can advise you on what will work. By the way, she’s really lovely and has great feedback on Facebook too regarding this!
The Final Outcome
When the final piece arrived, I was so pleasantly surprised. It looked even better than I imagined and the charms are so elegant and dainty, especially with the addition of the small pearls inside. The quality also looks amazing for the price and the rose gold is a true rose gold colour and super shiny, so you really get good quality for an affordable price. Overall, this design would have cost £21.97 which I really don’t think is bad at all for a fully customised, beautiful necklace like this. It’s so different to other stuff I’ve seen and if you ever get bored of it, you can buy different charms or a different locket and play around with it yourself. If you haven’t already, check out more over at their website or check out their instagram to see other existing designs!
