Recent Cruelty Free Purchases

April 15, 2015

Before I start, yes I haven’t posted in a while. I know. I’ve been so busy with uni and work, I worked 40 hours the other week whilst having an Italian exam to revise for as well as photography coursework to do as well as a trip to London. Who knew blogging would be so hard to keep up with! But during my time away from the blogging world, I’ve been purchasing a few new pieces of make up to create a cruelty free collection. Here’s what I bought/already use.

The Body Shop Moisture Foundation SPF15 (shade 03) – £13.00

This foundation has been my go-to foundation for a while now. Before I turned to cruelty free brands, I occasionally swapped from this to another brand as the other brand was a lot cheaper but still did the job however, knowing that it isn’t cruelty free, I decided to spend the extra couple of pounds and buy this. What I love about this foundation is how light it feels on my skin. I really hate those heavy feeling foundations that seem to just pile on your skin and make it feel all stuffy (I hope people understand the feeling I’m trying to explain), but this is just like applying moisturiser and makes my skin feel lovely. It has added SPF too which is great for summer to avoid your face getting burnt. This was my go-to foundation for holiday last year as my skin never felt dried out or burnt like a lot of foundations would. It lasts me pretty much all day, although if you have bad acne I wouldn’t recommend it as it may show through. But overall this is a great everyday foundation and even suits my extremely pale skin tone!

The Body Shop Baked-To-Last Bronzer (shade 02 warm glow) – £16.00

This is the only bronzer I have used since 2011, I bought one back in year 10 and it lasted me up until this year. I know that sounds absolutely crazy and I don’t know how it’s lasted 4 years but it has. It may look small but really, it lasts so long. It is pigmented with pinks and bronze colours which make it look more natural and suit a paler complexion (this is what I was told by the lovely woman who served me and it seems to be true). However, they also have another shade which suits darker skin tones so don’t worry if you’re not as pale as I am! It is slightly on the expensive side but you will get more than your money’s worth.

GOSH Intense Eyeliner Pen (shade Black 1) – £6.49

This eyeliner may be my new favourite eyeliner. I used to swear by L’Oréal Super Liner Perfect Slim, but again, that wasn’t cruelty free. I switched to this one after testing out a few in Superdrug and absolutely love it. It still has the same solid black colour as my old eyeliner pen but it also lasts so much longer and doesn’t smudge onto the top of my eyelid and leave that horrible little black line above my eye that I always found myself checking for in the past. I highly recommend this to anyone and is such a steal at less than £7. That’s cheaper than my old one, whilst doing a better job!

GOSH Click’N Conceal Concealer (shade Light 1) – £6.99

I was a little doubtful about this product as it is a brush on concealer rather than a stick, so I usually avoid concealers like this. However, I’d been searching everywhere for a new concealer and my mum (who I went on a cruelty free shop with after she found out just how many companies test on animals) pointed out this one out so I said I might as well try it and see how it is. Honestly, it’s not that bad. It’s a great colour for my skin and blends well. The only bad thing about it is that you have to click a button on the bottom of it to dispense liquid into the brush and it sometimes takes a few clicks to get it working, and once I do get it working it looks like i’ve dispensed too much. Another great concealer to go for is Body Shop’s Tea Tree Concealer (£7.00) which is great if you have spots to cover as tea tree works well in getting rid of them, and the concealer itself has great coverage.
